I've in depth expertise of 1 particular fingertip blood pulse oximeter and a wide range of hospital and ambulance ones, from the patient perspective. As an electronic engineer, I was interested to calibrate my low cost HKD100 (about USD13) fingertip blood pulse oximeter towards the hospital one which seemed prefer it was built for battle. The readings have been by no means greater than 2% totally different - and people studying from different fingers, which can provide totally different readings - and usually equivalent, but that was in supreme conditions equivalent to fixed ward temperature of 19C/66℉ and me comfy and at relaxation. Lowest recorded SpO2 in hospital was about 63% briefly - most likely beneath-reading of my precise oxygen saturation in my body core, but I've poor circulation in extremities when cold. In a single ambulance journey at 3am on a cold winter night time, I noticed my home SPO2 device measured by the ambulance oximeter plummet from low 90’s - 80’s - 70’s - 60’s and many others and eventually settled at 25%, the place it stayed for a minimum of 10 seconds, although it appeared like longer. I prayed exhausting and focused on managed respiratory with all my power. |
