Background: Physical train has been long acknowledged for its therapeutic results on depressive disorders, however the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Within the research, we investigated whether or not the bodily train by voluntary wheel running (VWR) alters depression-like behaviors and its impact on brain Blood Vitals oxygen level-dependent (Bold) signals in mice. Ex. The variations in useful brain adjustments were determined by Bold useful magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Results: The results showed that VWR train significantly reversed the CUMS-induced behavioral abnormalities. Base on the fMRI amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) analysis, we found that VWR exercise might restore the CUMS-induced excessive Bold activation in components of limbic system, reminiscent of cortex, hippocampus and corpus callosum. Furthermore, CUMS-induced Bold suppressive regions were additionally partially attenuated by VWR train, akin to amygdala, cerebellum anterior lobe, thalamus, midbrain, and pontine. Most of these regions are concerned in temper-regulating circuit, suggesting dysfunction of the circuit in CUMS model of depression, and VWR train may modify the temper-regulating circuit.
